Alternative Cures for Oily Skin

If you have oily skin, with medium to large pores, a shiny appearance, and a tendency to have blackheads and blemishes, you may actually need more oil in your diet-the kind that contains fatty acids. There are two ways to deal with oily skin, externally and internally. Here are some alternative treatments to cure oily skin.

FLAXSEED OIL: This is a must for oily skin! Take a supplement of at least 1 to 3 teaspoons a day of this oil rich in fatty acids. These fatty acids are good for anyone no matter what skin type!
FOOD: Cut down on saturated fats. People who eat a lot of red meat and dairy products, which are loaded with saturated fat, can end up with oilier skin, clogged pores, and more blemishes. For healthier skin, maximize on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, seeds, and fish.
LECITHIN: This food supplement can help emulsify, or break apart, the saturated fat in your body so that it doesn’t make your skin more oily.
HERBS: Teas make great toners! Yarrow, sage, or peppermint teas are great for removing left-over cleanser and dirt from oily skin.
HYDROTHERAPY: Sedate of steam your oil glands with water! Cooler water slows down your oil glands. After you cleanse your face-once in the morning and once in the evening, and never with soap- gently slash your face with cool water. Steaming also helps to deep clean oily skin. You can buy a facial steaming machine or use an ordinary pot to heat water in. Hang your face over the steaming water for 8 to 10 minutes.
ALEO VERA GEL: This also helps refine oil, and makes a good natural face lift!
CUCUMBER and LIME: Half hours before taking your bath apply on your face half teaspoon each of lime and cucumber juice mixed together. You can also apply a little cucumber juice on the excessively oily parts of your face.
ESSENTIAL OILS FOR OILY SKIN: Lemon, Juniper, Lavender, Sage, Cypress, Geranium, Cedar wood, and Bergamot are all great for oily skin. These essential oils are easy to use and find and can be used for a great facial sauna.
WITCH HAZEL: Excellent for absorbing oily when applied to the skin.
DO NOT SMOKE: Smoking promotes enlargement of the pores and impairs the overall health of the skin.
These beauty remedies and alternatives along with common sense practices are great for helping oily skin and promote overall health.

Hoodia Products-My Personal Reviews

All of the Hoodia products reviewed below were all personally used by me. I've decided to give those of you who read this my honest opinion on them all. I have used only three hoodia weight loss products, but I intend on using more just so that I can review them. For those of you who don't know, hoodia is suppose to be infamous for appetite suppression, however there are products out there that are total scams. Here is what I think of the Hoodia supplements I've tried so far.

SUPER HOODIA 2000:To be honest, this product didn't curb my appetite.I have taken it for a week now, and I haven't noticed any difference in my appetite. I bought it off of Amazon.com because it received five stars. Although a lot of people were saying that it worked for them,it did nothing for me. I guess different things work for different people. If you think this product will work for you, don't hesitate to buy it, but I won't promise you any affective results.

PURE HOODIA EXTRACT(FROM MOUNTAIN MEADOW HERBS LLC.):I think hoodia is more effective when its in the form of a liquid extract. This product actually got a high rating on Amazon.com. It did curb my appetite, but the affect didn't last too long(it lasted for about 2 hours). As I said before, different things work for different people. On a scale from 1 to 5, I give this hoodia extract a 3.

HOODIA De LITE SHAKE: I was skeptical at first, but this actually did the trick. Do you want to know why?BECAUSE IT TASTES NASTY!!! I wanted to spit up at the first gulp. Imagine drinking muddy water mixed in with milk and there you have it! On the bright side, it tasted so bad that I lost my appetite. I did have the strength to gobble it all down the hatch however, and when I did it made me feel full for about 4 hours. You can get Hoodia De Lite on Amazon.com for about 40 bucks. You may or may not like the taste, but if you drink it really fast, it will curb your appetite. It sure did do it for me!

Natural Weight Loss

Let’s face it, losing weight is hard. The older you get, the harder it gets to shed pounds. Some over-the counter- medication can either make feel sick, doesn’t do squat, or both. Everyone knows that the proper way to lose weight is through diet and exercise, but there are vitamins and alternative ways to help you lose weight and stay fit. The following herbs supplements can help boost your metabolism, suppress your appetites, and increase your mood. Everyone knows that you have to have a descent mood in order to be healthy. My father always told me, “A good and healthy mind can lead to a good and healthy appearance.”
GLUTAMINE: This balances blood sugar, and thus stops cravings. The lower your blood sugar (hypoglycemia) the more you will crave sweets and starches. Take 500 mg per day. You can get the kind of capsules that dissolve under your tongue for a faster effect.
TYROSINE: Thyroid activity is also important when it comes to balancing your weight. Taking 500 to 2,000 mg of tyrosine three times a day keeps your thyroid balanced. Basically, this stuff helps you feel less fatigued, brain-fogged, and boosts metabolism!
D-PHENYLALANINE: If you eat to overcome emotional pain, then this is the right stuff for you! 500 mg of DPLA can help ease your stress and boost your self-esteem. I call it, The Happy Pill.
5-HTP: This supplement does about the same thing as DLPA, only it makes you a lot calmer. This might even help you sleep at night. Start with 50 mg of 5-HTP, then work your way up to 100- mg. This too helps curb your appetite.
FISH OIL (OMEGA-3): Fish oil helps your body use fat instead of letting your body just store fat. It’s also great for women because it does wonders for the skin and hormonal balance! Taking 1,000 mg of this product should do the trick.
HOODIA: This African plant is simply supposed to curb your cravings and stop hunger. I’m not too sure how much you take because everyone seems to react differently to different dosages(bigger people need higher dosages of hoodia) Start out taking 500 mg of hoodia three times a day. If you don’t seem to see any change in your appetite, work your way up to 2,000 mg three times a day. I would try homeopathic liquid extract under the tongue for a quicker effect. That’s how I take hoodia.
GABA: If you are under stress, then try 500 mg of this natural tranquilizer. Do not exceed 1,000 mg per day.
As I said earlier, smart food choices, a good amount of exercise, and a stable mood should help you lose a lot of weight. The trick is NOT to diet, but to make healthy eating your lifestyle. My father also told me, “Once you make certain foods and activity habits your way to live, your body will change in a positive way from the inside out!” My father is a very wise man.

Treat Insomnia The Natural Way!

Insomnia can be a nightmare. You’re desperate for sleep, but you just can’t seem to rest. Up to 30 percent of Americans have insomnia which refers to any sleep disorder. Approximately ten million people take prescription medication to help them sleep, while many more take over-the counter sleep aids. One of the major problems with taking drugs to help you sleep is that long-term or chronic use of sleeping pills can cause addiction and disturbing side effects which can make insomnia worse.
Natural approaches to eliminating insomnia include enough exercise, avoiding curtain foods, and practicing relaxation techniques. There are also many good supplements that can help with insomnia.

5-HTTP: This supplement induces sleep. Take 100 milligrams daily.
SKULLCAP: This powdery herb induces drowsiness. You can take 1 teaspoon in warm water before retiring.
VALERIAN: This root contains a chemical known as valepotriates, which have sedative properties. You can find Valerian in a capsule form or fluid extract. Take 1 to 2 millimeters of the fluid extract; 150 to 300 milligrams in capsule form.
CALCIUM And MAGNESIUM: Calcium and magnesium deficiency can cause you to wake up after a few hours of sleep. Take 1,500 milligrams of calcium and 750 milligrams of magnesium daily.
MELATONIN: This chemical is secreted by the pineal gland in the brain to regulate the body’s sleep-wake cycle. This chemical decreases with age, so taking a Melatonin supplement may help induce sleep.
VITAMIN B-6: This B-vitamin helps reduce stress. Taking 50 milligrams forty-five minutes to retiring can help with relaxation.
CINNAMON: If you awaken many times at night, your blood sugar levels may be too low. Cinnamon can help stabilize your blood sugar. You can take a teaspoon of cinnamon is a glass of warm water or find it in capsule form.
Dieting and exercise can also help regulate sleep patterns. A fair amount of exercise and making healthy food choices are also great for preventing insomnia. Also, cutting down on smoking and consumption of caffeine and alcohol can help you catch up on your sleep.
These are all effective ways to rid yourself of insomnia, however if your insomnia still lingers, consult a doctor. If psychological stress contributes to the problem, you may be referred to psychologist or psychiatrist to explore other issues relating to the problem. Your doctor may want to rule out sleep apnea, a common problem in whish sleeper stop breathing for periods of ten seconds of more at night. If left untreated, apnea can cause serious health problems such as high blood pressure, and enlarged heart, and stroke.
Sleep shouldn’t be a dream; it is needed in order to maintain a full and healthy life. These natural alternatives can very well help a person regain the long-lost rest they so desperately need.

Herbs 4 Depression

Have you been feeling down and out lately? Has stress got your stomach in a knot? If you are still reading this article you most likely aren’t feeling like yourself. Though it is important to see a doctor about these feelings, you can also see a more holistic approach to help treat your depression. However, you should always take the medication prescribed to you by a professional and also let them know if you are taking any other medication and supplements, or if you are thinking about doing so.
So let me share with you more alternative ways of helping boost your happiness.
ST. JOHN’S WARTS: This is the first herb I highly recommend when you are super hyper or when you are feeling super depressed. Basically, St. John’s Warts keeps your moods balanced.
5-HTP: This also helps you when you are feeling depressed and acts just like Prozac. It even stops you from over eating when you are stressed and keeps you relaxed. 5-HTP is good for when you can’t sleep and when dieting.
SAM-E (S-adenosylmethionine): This is an effective antidepressant, and is believed to improve “methylation” in the body, a process that increases the effects of neurotransmitters. You can take 1,600 mg of Sam-E a day.
GINGKO BALOBA: This is actually used to improve memory, but it also increases blood flow to the brain. Taking 40 to 80 mg three times a day can improve your mood and memory.
FISH OIL (Omega-3): Getting sufficient doses of Omega-3 and other Fatty acids can help battle depression. Fatty Acids are important for neurons, or brain cells.
B-COMPLEX VITAMINS: Take multivitamins with adequate doses of vitamin-B to relieve stress. This is especially great for women who suffer with menopause and have feelings of discomfort.
SUN LIGHT (VITAMIN-D): Your body needs the sun in order for your hormones and brain chemistry to be stable. If you stay in all the time for many days, then this can trigger depression. Go outside once in awhile and enjoy life!
Believe it or not, but flowers can also help with depression and mood. You can find these flowers in liquid extract forms, which are the best kind. Here are a few of the flowers that are believed to help with depression:
WILD ROSE: This helps people who have lost their ideals, and makes them more enthusiastic.
GENTIAN: For those who feel discouraged or easily defeated by life, and makes them more hopeful.
SCOTCH BROOM: For sever pessimism. It’s also great for paranoia!
Other alternatives such as acupuncture, yoga, and physical exercise can also help battle depression. Also, finding a hobby or anything that you like to do is also good medicine. Opening up to other about your depression can also help relive a lot of the pain that is held within you. The more you keep bottled up, the more potential one has of exploding or having a breakdown. Seeking a therapist or joining a support group for people who suffer with depression is always good, so don’t feel ashamed or “crazy” for taking that route.
As I said before, always take your prescribed medication and tell your doctor about other alternatives you wish to take! Hopefully, these all-natural ideas will help others in need.

Are You An Addict?

Addictions have a root cause---a disturbance in the chemicals of the brain and body--that makes people dependent on gambling, drugs, alcohol, over-eating, and over-working. Believe it or not, there are holistic ways of halting certain addictions.

BLACK-EYED SUSAN: This flower essence is good for addicts in denial. It can help reveal the reality of addiction! I haven't tried this flower essence, but I have heard that it can calm your nerves.

CALIFORNIA WILD ROSE: This essence helps bring a new commitment to life and helps you stay focused on more positive goals.

NICOTIANA: If you're trying to stop smoking, then try this flower essence.

MORNING GLORY: For those addicted to caffeine. This flower helps those overcome erratic rhythms and disturbed sleep patterns, such as staying up late at night, thereby reducing the need for caffeine in the morning.
